This event is a continuation of our very successful ‘Practical Rehab’ online event in March. We feel that now restrictions have lifted sufficiently to have small groups face-to-face we should run a live version of the event.
We welcome back ACPAT Cat A Physio, Fiona Bloom and, BHSI performance coach Liz Eaton, to teach a small group of body workers how to assess strengths and weaknesses and then how to train correctly to rectify them.
The day will begin with Fiona looking at the assessment of horses, how to look for symmetry, anatomical vs. adaptational faults, how to judge strength chains, weak areas and muscle tonicity. Fiona will show delegates how to move the horses to assess correctly – there will be plenty of hands on work for delegates to develop feel.
Fiona will create clinical notes on each horse, which we will discuss with the rider and Liz to create a ridden lesson plan. Delegates can either use these techniques themselves or, develop their skills to pass exercises on to owners/trainers.
Liz will then work with each horse to create a specific plan to strengthen weak areas and allow the horse to move correctly, utilising the right muscles. There will be plenty of time for discussion, questions and hands on work.
We aim for each delegate to gain the knowledge and techniques to correctly assess symmetrical muscle development and, to create individual plans for their clients to ultimately build strong, stable and sound horses. This event differs to others by teaming together a body worker and a trainer. We will provide course notes to each delegate and teas and coffee throughout the day, but you will need to provide your own lunch.
